Hologram and FMT

I recently read that the subject items, or at least the hologram, are no longer available at KM 21 south of Nogales but have been moved to Empalme, south of Guaymas. Any truth to this? If so, what about KM 17 east of Sonoyta? Since we will be in Yuma for about a month before we start south in Oct, I was planning on getting both in San Luis RC before leaving and then going through Lukeville, but if all the places to get holograms have been moved, I may have to change plans.

Simple answer; No one ever comes on a forum complaining that they have too much truck.

RE: Ford F-350 yr. 2008 and diesel in Mexico.

Do a search on the RVing in Mexico and South America forum, and you will find much discussion on this subject. Ed White has done a lot of research on this. I don't know what I would do if I had an 07.5 diesel, but there is anticdotal evidence that many gringos,(that includes you Canucks:)) are driving their new trucks down there. BTW, I knew this was coming so bought an 06 model.

RE: Mexico West Coast News!

Most Mexicans despise the USA and have no use for the country or the people
Geez moisheh, care to elaborate on this? Certanly haven't found too many Mexicans who act like they despise me, or many Canadians for that matter.

RE: Calgon???

Look in the bubblebath section of Walmart. I searched for several weeks and couldn't find it in the laundry section, and finally DW said,"Its in the bath section, (dummy)". She didn't actually say dummy, but the voice tone was there.:B

RE: It isn't any better overseas......

Well, you might consider the distances involved too. Mass transit would work well on most of the east cost and in LA-LA land and the SeaTac area in WA where there are major population centers but imagine the cost of light rail from say, Tonopah NV to Salmon ID? The cost would be pretty high.

RE: What's the best form of 'money' to bring into MX

While I've never had it happen to me, I have heard of ATM machines that will keep your card, so I TRY to only use the ones that you swipe, rather than the ones that take the card in. My guess is that the reason that some people have had this problem is that they don't take their card as soon as it is returned, but rather count their money before taking the card.

RE: Direct TV in MX ??

I'm thinking about getting Starchoice at my buddies house when we go up to Victoria for a visit in August. We had access to it the last year we were in La Peñita and we could even get Spokane and/or Seattle channels. Plus, it's interesting to watch news from Canada, gives you a different slant from CBSNBCABCFOXCNN, (I ran them together as they are all the same).:)

RE: Maybe I was too harsh

No, I don't think you were too harsh,:M but on the other hand, doesn't your computer have a delete button somewhere?:W I generally put those kind of emails on my banned sender list too. My wife always tells me to "breath through your nose" when I get up on step like that, and then I pet the cat and ignore them, (mostly).:)

RE: FIFTH WHEEL QUALITY

Our next 5er will be either a Montana 2955, or a Carriage Cameo F32SB2, because of the floor plan (two slides, rear entry). We are leaning towards the Cameo because of the bathroom setup. Finding a floor plan you like makes it simpler to wade through models.

I could put up with heat and humidity, but whining teenagers would sure turn me off. Glad we don't have any.:B

RE: I'm apprenhensive to even broach this subject

When we are traveling, and only want to spend the night, if we get a back in spot, Linda and I get out, look the spot over, and I show her where I want the left rear corner to be. I then back in, with her spotting, when situated, I check the stick on levels on the front right corner by the raise/lower switch, and if level from side to side and we aren't going anywhere and the rig is level fore and aft also, I put the front jacks down just far enough to stabilize, and plug in the electric and hook up the water. If we plan on using the truck, of course we unhitch. I don't hook up the sewer every time unless we have taken a couple of showers or I think the black tank is getting too full. If we are just stopping to sleep, (not often, as we don't usually start traveling until 9:00 or so and are done by 3:30 or so), I only plug in electric. We don't often boondock as I need 115AC to run my CPAP machine. It has taken me longer to type this than for us to do a set up.
From my observations on our travels with friends with both, 5th wheels don't take any longer to set up than MHs with toads, as they must park somewhere and unhitch before backing in, and not all campgrounds offer all pull throughs..
